On 2nd November 2013 - we visited the Hunterville "Shemozzle". This is a fun annual event held in the main street of Hunterville. Rural in the extreme it featured a "dog barking competition" - a junior "endurance race" involving obstacles and challenges for the under 12's (File note:- 150 competitors from schools all over the lower north island)- an intermediate race with similar challenges involving a hill run, a mud slide, and various obstacles to negoiate - a beauty pagent for dogs and the grand finale - the shephards race - which not only incorporates all the obstacles from the earlier challenges but each competitor must be accompanied by his/her dog culminating in a wheel barrow ride to the finish. It is an absolute hoot and an event which is not only free but a photographers nivana as photographic opportunities abound...... A fabulous day out.
